Learning Support

At Hausner, we understand that each child is unique, and make every effort to honor and support different learning styles. Our Learning Support Team works with each student to help them grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

Our Learning Support Staff

The School Counselor provides a variety of training programs for students, including social skills development, problem-solving, and behavioral support. They host student lunch discussions and provide individual social-emotional support and short-term therapy as needed.

Learning Support Specialists provide remedial and individualized support using multisensory, evidence-based methodologies for small groups and individual students in the following areas:

  • Contextual reading

  • Language comprehension

  • Decoding/encoding

  • Math computation and problem solving

  • Written expression

  • Executive functioning

How We Support Our Students

  • Provide academic support for students who qualify at our weekly After-School Learning Center.

  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and outside specialists to meet students’ diverse needs. 

  • Monitor grade-level transitions and keep teachers informed and prepared.

  • Perform screenings and observations.

  • Develop curriculum modifications and learning accommodations as needed.

  • Conduct screenings for new students.  

  • Offer parent/teacher support and education.

  • Provide small group remedial intervention for identified students in grades K-5.

  • Facilitate Student Study Team (SST) meetings.
