How to Apply

We look forward to getting to know you and your educational wishes for your child(ren). We invite you to visit for a tour or event and experience the dynamic TK-8th grade classrooms, curriculum and learning community at Hausner. We are also happy to schedule a phone call or Zoom meeting to share more about what Hausner offers and learn more about your family. 

Our application can be found in Ravenna, an online application system for independent and private schools. 

New prospective families are asked to complete the online application and pay the $100 application fee (per student).

Current Hausner families are asked to complete the online application and will be provided a waiver code for their application fee.

All prospective students are invited to Hausner for a student visit or shadow day.

• TK and Kindergarten prospective students are invited to join us for a scheduled visit between January and March. During the visit, children will enjoy a fun and engaging 60-minute session with other TK and Kindergarten applicants, led by our Hausner teachers. Meanwhile, parents are welcome to join the Hausner administration and fellow parents for coffee and conversation.
• First through eighth grade prospective students are invited to shadow for a full day at Hausner.

  During the shadow day, your child will be paired with a Hausner buddy to attend classes, enjoy lunch with new friends, explore the campus, and meet teachers. They’ll also have the chance to ask questions and get a real feel for the school.

• Student Recommendation (Grades TK-8)
  We love becoming acquainted with our prospective students. One important way we do so is by reading their current teachers’ recommendations. This is also a best practice employed by all Bay Area Independent schools.
  On your Hausner application checklist on Ravenna, there is a link to send your child's current teacher an email with a link to a confidential Student Recommendation form. Once the teacher fills out the form they will submit it directly to our school.
• School Records and Report Cards (Grades 1-8)
  On your Hausner application checklist on Ravenna, there is a link to send your child's current school an email to request school records and report cards be sent to Hausner. We ask for the most recent report card as well as the previous year's report card for each student applying to grades 1-8.
• Upper School Questionnaire (Grades 5-8)
  Is your child applying for Hausner’s Upper School (5th - 8th grades)? If so,  we are eager to learn more from your child. On your Hausner application checklist on Ravenna, there is a link to a short questionnaire for students applying to grades 5-8.

There are two tracks for enrollment: Sibling Application and New Family Application (see Key Admission Dates tab above for more information).

• Sibling Application: If your family currently attends Hausner and is applying for a sibling of a current student to join the school, follow the sibling application timeline and due dates.
• New Family Application: If your family is new to Hausner, we will send your admission decision and any applicable enrollment paperwork at the same time as many other Bay Area Independent Schools, follow the new family application timeline and due dates.

Upon completion of the required steps, the Admission Committee will review each application. Admissions decisions and tuition assistance information will be emailed to families based on their enrollment track.
