Shabbat in Tel Aviv

Today was our last day in Tel Aviv.

In the morning, we walked to a Masorti synagogue in the Neve Tzedek neighborhood for Shabbat services. We had a joyful celebration along with the warm, welcoming community there.

After lunch, we walked to the beach to catch some rays and to play in the sand and the surf. Although we had anticipated a hot ,sunny day, the weather turned overcast and the water was unexpectedly cold. Nevertheless, almost all enjoyed their time on the beach, whether they were splashing in the waves, kicking around a soccer ball, burying each other in the sand, or just generally goofing around.

Later in the afternoon was visitation time. Several students had the opportunity to meet with relatives living in Israel.

After dinner and Havdalah, the students headed out to the port of Tel Aviv to explore the boardwalk, eat some ice cream, and have ridiculous amounts of fun playing on the playgrounds.

Tomorrow, we pack our bags, climb on the bus, and head out for a full day of activities, including volunteer work at the Leket Rishon and a tour of the Beta Israel Ethiopian village in Kiryat Gat. We will ultimately make our way to the Mashabe Sade kibbutz in the Negev Desert.

Today was our first Shabbat in Israel! After breakfast, we walked to the synagogue and participated in the morning service.

After we walked back we had lunch then went to the beach, we had lots of fun! Post our time at the beach, we spent some quality time with our family from Israel, then had dinner with Hausner alumni.

We got the first bus ride since Friday afternoon to the port, where we enjoyed playing on the play structure and eating ice cream..

Ruby's Summary

This morning, we woke up bright and early in order to eat breakfast and walk to synagogue for a morning service. After we walked back, we ate lunch at the hotel.

A few hours later, the teachers told us that we could go to the beach! We stayed there for an hour or two, and had so much fun! (Every kid who went to the beach got into the water!!)

After, we came back, some kids visited their families from Israel! Then, we ate dinner with a few Hausner alumni, which was really fun! Once we were finished, we had a Havdalah service at the hotel.

After, we got on the bus, and drove to Tel Aviv Port, where the teachers let us play on the playground and get ice cream!
