2023 Israel Study Tour: Day #11
Ben Smietana
Shabbat in Jerusalem
Andrew V. and Aviv G.
Today was Shabbat, so we had a late wake up. After breakfast, we were able to visit one of three synagogues for Shabbat service. The choices were an Italian-style synagogue, the big orthodox-Sephardic synagogue, and a small conservative synagogue.
After service, we walked back to the hotel for lunch, after which we had a few hours of rest in the hotel for Shabbat. After resting, we had a group activity about Jewish ethics and Israeli government, followed by a short Havdalah service with Rabbi Henan, down the street from the hotel.
We ended the night with a pizur dinner on Ben Yehuda street, near the hotel, where some of our classmates had the opportunity to meet with family.
