Q&A with Spring Benefit Co-chair Eliana Krulig

Q&A with Spring Benefit Co-chair Eliana Krulig
Megan Bartell

Hear from Hausner parent, Eliana Krulig, about her family's experience at Hausner and why she is involved in the Spring Benefit coming up this Thursday, May 19. Read the Q&A below to learn about Eliana's family's background, her favorite thing about Hausner, as well as her fun favorite Hebrew words.

1. How long have you been a Hausner Family? What brought you to Hausner?

Our family joined Hausner in 2017, when Emma, our oldest daughter, entered Kindergarten. Now Emma is in 4th grade, and we also have our younger daughter Mia in 1st grade.

Both my husband and I are originally from Caracas, Venezuela, where we were part of a very tightly-knit Jewish community. Like most Jewish kids there, we went to the Jewish Day School from pre-K through twelfth grade. We both feel that the school played a pivotal role in developing our Jewish identity and values. It also allowed us to form long-lasting friendships that we enjoy to this day.

We came to Hausner because we wanted our daughters to learn Hebrew, Judaism, and our Jewish history. We stayed at Hausner because we also found a community and because we realized the school could provide our kids with everything that was so important to us growing up, especially now that we live away from family.

2. What is your favorite thing about Hausner and our community?

I’d have to say the people, all the way from the staff to the students and families. The staff always makes the school feel warm and welcoming. My kids love coming to school every day! The families are always willing to help one another, which creates a very strong support system.

3. What inspired you to co-chair this year's benefit?

After the past 2+ years of covid, lockdowns, masks and not being able to participate in school events, I wanted to be part of an event that would bring Hausner families together. As I was one of the co-chairs of the Spring Benefit that was scheduled for March 2020–and got canceled 1 week prior to the event– I felt that I wanted to be part of this year’s event and make sure to make it an amazing experience for all the new families that have never been to one of the prior Benefits.

4. What are you most looking forward to in regards to the Spring Benefit?

Connecting with families and friends that we haven’t seen in a long time. And laughing out loud with The Mortified.

5. Tell us a fun fact about yourself?

I love to sing, but sing terribly! Luckily, I’m aware of this minor detail and only torture my close family with my tunes.

6. What is your favorite Hebrew word?

Sababa and Melafefon, how can you not love those words?
