Meet Amy Brown, Hausner's Lead TK Teacher, who gets thrilled by seeing her students learn to read and write for the first time! When she's not at work, she enjoys spending time with her daughter and cat. Fun fact: Amy once had a unique hair color while studying Theatre abroad in London! Read on to learn more.

 

1. How long have you lived in the Bay Area, where did you come from and what brought you here?

My family moved from Princeton, New Jersey to Palo Alto when I was 10 years old. My dad was offered a job with a large pharmaceutical company. After I I was married, my husband began taking different jobs around the country. We moved back to Palo Alto 12 years ago to be near family. 


2. What is your role at Hausner and how long have you been here?

I am the TK lead teacher.


3. What is the highlight of your working week?

The highlight of my working week is when I see my students start to read and write for the first time. It is always such a thrill for me and I love seeing their excitement and pride!


4. What do you do when you're not at work?

When I am not at work I can usually be found chilling with my youngest daughter Sophie and my cat Minx, reading or watching movies together.


5. What do you think you would do if you weren't a teacher?

If I wasn’t a teacher I would be involved with theatre in some way. 


6. Tell us a fun fact about yourself.

A fun fact about me is that in college I once had purple hair while studying Theatre abroad in London. 


7. What is your favorite Hebrew word/Jewish Holiday?

My favorite Hebrew word is Kavod, to honor and show respect for others.
