We’re excited to share several wonderful math competition opportunities available to Hausner students this year! These contests are a fun way for students to challenge themselves, grow their problem-solving skills, and connect with a larger community of math lovers.

If your child would like to participate in any of these events, please complete this form by October 17. If you have several children who’d like to participate, please submit one form per child.

AMC 8 – Grades 6–8
The American Mathematics Competition (AMC 8) is one of the most well-known math contests for middle school students. It offers a fun but very challenging set of problems that really stretch mathematical thinking. The contest takes place in January. Learn more on the AMC website.

Math Olympiads (MOEMS®) – Grades 5–8
MOEMS runs monthly contests designed to spark creative problem-solving and build persistence in math. Sample problems and more details can be found on the MOEMS website.

  • Division E (Elementary): Grades 5–6

  • Division M (Middle School): Grades 6–8

  • Students in grade 6 are welcome to participate in both divisions. 

Noetic Math Contest – Grades 2–8
The Noetic Learning Math Contest (NLMC) takes place twice each year and gives students the chance to tackle challenging, out-of-the-box math problems. It is open to students in grades 2–8. Visit the Noetic Learning website for more information.

Kangaroo Math – Grades 1–8
Hausner is thrilled to host Kangaroo Math this spring! This international contest is perfect for students who enjoy puzzles, logic, and creative problem-solving.  Sample problems and more details can be found on the Math Kangaroo website.

  • Location: Students will participate in a school setting during the school day

We also have a Hausner parent running MathLeague.org for grades 3–6. Mathleague.org offers engaging contests throughout the year that build problem-solving skills, creativity, and a love of math through fun, challenging problems.
