Spring Benefit Honoring Judy Schiffer
After a two year hiatus due to COVID, we held our in person Spring Benefit on May 19, 2022 with a record turnout and a festive atmosphere that reflected a Lag Ba’Omer theme and Hausner’s community spirit. The turf field was brilliantly illuminated by bistro lights, as we enjoyed delicious Kosher food with an Israeli twist, and roasted s’mores by the fire pits.
Fundraising to support Hausner tuition assistance exceeded our goal thanks to the beautiful generosity of parents, grandparents, faculty, staff, and community supporters. During the event, beloved former Head of School Gerry Elgarten honored Judy Schiffer for 30 dedicated years of service.
Over the years, Judy worked with no less than five heads of school, and wore many hats, including Admissions Assistant to the Head of School, HR manager, Tuition Assistance Administrator, Front Office Manager, as well as security, neighbor relations, and many other functions, which fell under the “someone needs to do it…” category. Judy will be missed by the entire community, but her legacy of caring and community building will continue.
Being part of the Hausner community has brought so much joy to my life. I love the spirit of the school, the learning, the celebrations, the dancing and the singing, the trips we took, the places we visited with staff and classes, virtually and in person, and the vast enrichment I experienced over the years. I feel blessed and proud to be a part of such a magnificent community, where I met so many amazing people, built friendships, and collected so many joyful moments and memories. It really feels like my second family.
